They say knowledge is power, but sometimes it feels like everyone else is in on a secret except for me. I’ve spent most of my life in the dark, oblivious to the world of ADHD swirling around me. Some people may have suspected it, while others had no clue. Even my own family would crack jokes about my quirks, and I would laugh along, blissfully unaware of the gravity of the situation.

To be honest, the idea of taking medication never sat well with me. But then, I found myself in Sweden, where my physiotherapist opened my eyes to a different perspective. It turns out that many people here take medication as a tool to enhance focus when needed, while still leading fulfilling lives. I was intrigued by this concept, and it made me rethink my stance. Surprisingly, I discovered that my passion for art became a sanctuary where I could find focus without relying on medication. It’s in those moments, when I’m engrossed in the creative process, that my ADHD takes on a whole new dimension. The chaos in my mind becomes a source of inspiration and comfort. What may seem like a chaotic mess to others is a beautiful symphony to me.

I’ve come to embrace this unique relationship with my ADHD, and I want to share my journey with others. That’s why I’ve been dreaming of hosting an art workshop combined with meditation, a space where people can tap into their creative flow while finding inner peace. I imagine a gathering of like-minded individuals, both in person and through live recordings on YouTube, providing a platform for those who may be struggling with depression or feeling isolated at home. Together, we can use art as a form of meditation, unleashing our thoughts and emotions onto the canvas. It’s an opportunity for connection, both with ourselves and with others, as we explore the power of self-expression.

In my ideal workshop space, vibrant colors and broad strokes would dominate the scene, representing the freedom to let go and unleash our innermost thoughts. I envision soft velvet couches adorned with fluffy white pillows, surrounded by lush greenery and bathed in warm, inviting lighting. The walls would display unconventional gold-framed photographs, perhaps of goats or other whimsical elements, injecting a touch of delightful chaos. It might sound like a blend of a BDSM red room from Fifty Shades of Grey and a cozy retreat, but to me, it represents the perfect blend of creativity, comfort, and individuality.

This captivating space is from the Hobo place in Sweden, and it left me in awe. Its beauty resonated deeply with me, inspiring me to envision my own workshop with a similar ambiance. In a dimly lit space, criticism fades away, allowing the art to be felt rather than analyzed. It’s an immersive experience where visual perception takes a backseat, and emotions take center stage.

This article may seem like a whirlwind of thoughts, and that’s because it’s a true reflection of who I am. I’ve learned to see the world through rose-tinted glasses, even as I grapple with my own battles. It’s a testament to the complexity of the human mind and the paradoxes we encounter. My intention in sharing this deeply personal perspective is not to provide medical advice, but to offer a glimpse into my own experience and thoughts.
